Song for the Day - I gotta get drunk (Merle Haggard)

That's right...a country song! HA!

There's some country songs out there that have just put things perfectly sometimes. And this weekend is really looking like Merle has me pegged.

Well I gotta get drunk

and I sure do dread it

cause I know just what Im gonna do

Gonna spend my money

calling everybody honey

and wind up singing the blues

I gotta get drunk

I just can't stay sober

there's a lot of good people in town

Who'd like to hear me holler

see me spend my dollars

And I wouldn't think of lettin' 'em down

There's a lot of doctors

that keep on telling me

I'd better start slowin' it down

But there's more old drunks

than there are old doctors

So I guess we'd better have another round

Well seriously sometimes you just want the weekend to be a little blurry. Hazy in the memory so to speak. Summer's almost over and around here we tend to go from summer heat to blizzard pretty damn quick. I'll be going stir crazy soon enough as they seal up the pass and lock us all down for winter.

Where is my mind? - by the Pixies.

Spaced out and having a devil of a time trying to focus. Not down but not really there you know?

Life is a balancing act. We have our dreams, our desires, and our beliefs...on the other side of that wire or fence is reality and comfort and what we know to be true. Some consider balancing yourself between what you know and what you want, to be an exceptional feat. Some thing that you have to choose which side you want because sooner or later, you'll lose your balance and at least if you know which side you want, you can fall in that direction.

The interesting thing is how much perception is a part of this balancing act. Paint a line on the ground and try to walk it. It's a bit like that wire or fence. Ignore the stripe and you accomplish that wire walk with little or no trouble. It's the perception of our height or our need to walk that wire that makes it so difficult. If we ignore the need to choose sides, it seems we could walk that line indefinitely.
